MSHA Proposes New Rule on Work Area Examinations

MSHA has published a proposed rule on Examinations of Work Areas in Underground Coal Mines for Violations of Mandatory Health or Safe-1 ty Standards. The proposed rule would revise the agency's requirements for preshift, supplemental, on-shift and weekly examinations of underground coal mines. In addition, it would require that the mine operator record and correct violations and review with mine examiners on a quarterly basis.
