COUNTING COST OF PRESENTEEISM

The high costs of workplace absenteeism are well known and extensively publicised. Yet, in contrast, the costs and impact of presenteeism have received relatively little attention. The term was first coined by management researchers in the early 1990s to describe the situation whereby workers show up for work when they are not totally fit to do so.
