摘要

Just over half of those in the manufacturing industry have a workplace pension, research shows. That proportion is down from almost two-thirds of manufacturing workers 15 years ago. People often see saving for a pension as something they can put off until tomorrow. But leave it too late, and you won't build much to live on when you retire. That is why the government has introduced the biggest change to the pensions system in a century, giving up to 11 million people a helping hand. In October, we introduced a duty requiring employers to automatically enrol their staff into a workplace pension. By 2018 this will cover every workplace - from the largest to the smallest - and will apply to all workers aged between 22 and state-pension age earning more than £9,440 a year. However, anyone can opt in, and it's not always necessary to wait until your firm enrols you.
