摘要

The precise timing of the onset of brain changes tied to dyslexia largely remains a mystery. Nora Raschle et al. (pp. 2156-2161) used fMRI to determine whether the decreased activity observed in posterior regions of the brain's left hemisphere and associated with language processing deficits in children with dyslexia occurs before or after the onset of reading difficulties. The authors observed patterns of brain activation in 36 preliterate 5- to 6-year-old children who participated in a voice matching test in which children listened to the same word pairs and had to decide whether they were spoken by the same voice.
