The paper outlines the problems associated with the cooling of electrical equipment under supersonic high-altitude flight conditions. The limitations of present-day equipment are shown and recommendations are made regarding the type of equipment to meet future needs. The merits of the various types of constant-speed drive are discussed, together with the types of alternator which are likely to find favour. The need for continued development of high-temperature-resisting materials for the aircraft electrical industry is stressed.
