This letter investigates the impacts of distributed generation (DG) units' reactive power limits on the power flow solution of droop-controlled islanded microgrids (DCIMGs). It is demonstrated that the simplifications adopted in existing literature for modeling such limits are not accurate and can lead to crucial deviations in the answer, especially for heavily loaded islands. A detailed model is presented for the incorporation of the DG units' reactive power limits in the power flow formulation of DCIMGs and the impacts of such limits on the steady-state solution are demonstrated and analyzed.
