The Afsluitdijk will be revised in the coming years to prepare the dyke for the future. On April 1st, the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, gave the official starting signal for work to reinforce the dyke on the Frisian side of the Afsluitdijk. "For 87 years now, this iconic structure has protected a large part of our country from water. With this large-scale renovation, the Afsluitdijk will be ready for the future in four years." said Minister Van Nieuwenhuizen.
