IACS target for Tasneef

The UAE classification society, Tasneef, headquartered in Abu Dhabi and in existence for some six years, has set a target date for membership of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) at 2030. Meanwhile, Tasneef is concentrating on the local market, especially naval vessels. Currently, the Society has classed some 105 vessels, 95% of which are UAE flagged. These include naval vessels (some 44 ships), ro/ro (10) vessels general cargo vessels (77) and tugs. Tasneef is currently in the top three UAE-based class societies for UAE flagged vessels. Tasneef was recently chosen by Drydocks World to class its LNG-powered tug built by the yard for its own purposes. Tasneef has also classed the yard's floating dock since 2015, which was originally classed by DNV GL.
