Space constraints have not prevented Wallenius Wilhelmsen from committing itself to the port of Southampton as a vehicle handling hub. In a landmark deal, the port is building a multilevel car storage facility to retain the carrier as a long-term customer. Vehicle processing terminals, by their very nature, require a great deal of land for storage of consignments. Verv often, any available flat space is utilised to cater for vehicles awaiting import or export from a port. On occasion, this will mean securitv precautions or operational efficiencies are compromised.
