摘要

Stress-induced chemiluminescence (SCL) is a method to study oxidative degradation of polymers subjected to mechanical stress. The method has here been applied to injection moulded polyamide 66 and polypropylene specimens subjected to tensile testing. The emitted chemiluminescence was found to be an effect of thermally unstable hydroperoxides decomposing due to stress- induced adiabatic heating, which after necking is localised to the travelling neck shoulders.
