The Government programme of justice reform will substantially strengthen the accountability of the Garcia Siochana. The central objectives of the reform programme are to ensure that public confidence in the Garda Siochana is maintained and that the organisation is fit for purpose for the 21 st century. The programme's progress is overseen by the Cabinet Committee on Justice Reform, which is chaired by the Taoiseach. A cornerstone of the Government's reform programme involves legislative reform.
