Russia’s TVEL signs contracts to supply fuel, components to China

Russia’s TVEL Fuel Co. announced in a statement nNovember 2 that it has signed a package of contracts, worth nabout US$500 million, to supply nuclear fuel, fuel produc-ntion technology and zirconium fuel components to China.nThe contracts were signed with China’s Jiangsu Nuclear nPower Corp., or JNPC, and China Nuclear Energy Industry nCorp., CNEIC, for the supply of TVS-2M nuclear fuel for six nreloads at Tianwan-1.nTVEL will also sell TVS-2M fuel manufacturing technology nso the fuel can be produced at the Yibin Nuclear Fuels Factory nin China, starting with the seventh reload at Tianwan.nThe companies also signed a contract for the supply of nRussian zirconium components needed for the China-based nmanufacture of UTVS fuel for the sixth reload of TNPS units n1 and 2 and TVS-2M fuel for the seventh reload at unit 2.
