Zambia’s Muliashi copper project makes first copper blast

Zambia’s Muliashi Copper Project, owned nby the state-owned China Nonferrous nMetal Group, blasted its first cop-nper Thursday, Luanshya Copper Mines nspokesman Sydney Chileya said Friday. nThe Muliashi Open Pit mine was part of nLuanshya Copper Mines, which currently nproduces copper from the Baluba Mine, nChileya said. He said the blast was suc-ncessful and the mine had a second blast nFriday. The mine was expected to pro-nduce more than 30,000mt/year copper.
