LME cobalt, moly trade passes 10,500 lots

The London Metal Exchange has seen 10,542 nlots traded, equating to 14,337 mt of cobalt nand molybdenum, since launching the con-ntracts last year, the LME said Wednesday. nIn the first half of 2011, LME cobalt traded n2,971 mt and LME molybdenum 1,494 mt. In nthe first half of 2010, cobalt volumes reached n2,782 mt with molybdenum at 1,362 mt; how-never, trade in the two contracts did not begin nuntil February 22 last year. There are currently n13 brands listed for LME cobalt and seven for nLME molybdenum. Cobalt and molybdenum are nnow authorized for storage in four locations in nfour countries, with 12 warehouses listed in ntotal, the LME said. LME stock movements for nminor metals in the first half of 2011 “indi-ncate an active physical market,” the exchange nsaid, with 314 mt of LME cobalt delivered in nand 343 mt delivered out, while 60 mt of LME nmolybdenum were delivered into warehouse nand 78 mt delivered out.
