Randgold’s Q2 Au output dips 23%; profit up

London-listed gold miner Randgold nResources posted Thursday an attribut-nable gold production of 93,880 oz for the nquarter ended June 30, 2010, a 22.8% ndecline year on year and a 17% drop from nthe previous quarter. The attributable ngold output consists of 100% production nfrom its flagship Loulo operations and n40% from Morila -- both in Mali, West nAfrica. The company’s production for the nquarter was impacted by issues at the nLoulo operation, which suffered from nextensive power blackouts during the nperiod. Loulo is also still dealing with its nplant expansion project and the Yalea nunderground development. Randgold nexpects output levels to be back on ntarget by the fourth quarter.
