Texas to end storm-related moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment

The Public Utility Commission of Texas June 11 declared that it wouldend June 18 its moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment thatwas established in March to mitigate the impact to consumers of themid-February winter storm.That will be the last day for power, water, and sewer customers toavoid disconnection, and Commissioner Will McAdams during the June11 open meeting urged consumers facing unpaid bills for these utilitiesto reach out to the services to enroll in plans to spread the cost outover as many as five months, a program the PUC mandated.
