Peak demand in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas is projected to tumble Friday as temperatures across the region drop, pulling ERCOT next-day power prices down 66%. ERCOT North Hub day-ahead on-peak shed $37.50 to trade in the upper $10s/MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange for Friday delivery, the lowest price since mid-April. On Friday, ERCOT systemwide peakload is forecast to plunge 32% to around 42,845 MW, according to the grid operator. Friday’s forecast demand is the lowest since mid-May.
