PJM gathering data as member utility installs Dynamic Line Rating technology

Dynamic Line Ratings, or DLR, address real-time power market congestion, cutting down on maintenance while prioritizing where to invest. PJM Interconnection will gather DLR data as it works to understand how the technology can impact financial transmission rights and other markets. DLR is a system of transmission line sensors installed to measure conductor and environmental data to determine a real-time rating for the line based on live measurements, instead of assumed condition values, according to a presentation given by a PJM utility representative during an Oct. 1 PJM Emerging Technologies Forum meeting.
