NYISO adjusts grid planning assumptions to account for aggressive state goals

The New York Independent System Operator is considering planningassumptions during a period of considerable power system changes,including 6,000 MW of offshore wind power by 2030, regulations thatcould impact roughly 3,300 MW of generation and an incremental 1,250MW of Canadian hydropower imports.As part of developing NYISO's biannual Congestion Assessmentand Resource Integration Study, which projects congestion on the bulkpower system over a ten-year planning horizon, the grid operator isfactoring in state policies that include generating 70% of New York'selectricity from renewable sources by 2030.
