Japan’s Inpex firms up LNG plans

Japan is by far the world’s largest importer of LNG,naccounting for some 40% of existing regasificationncapacity, a share that is expected to fall in future, owingnto the huge number of plans to build regas plants innother parts of the world, particularly in the Atlanticnbasin. However, Japan is also set to increase its ownnregas capacity as Inpex Holdings has decided to startnwork in April 2009 on a Yen 100 billion ($910 million)nLNG import terminal at Joetsu city in Niigata prefecturenin northwestern Japan. Start-up is planned for 2014.
