Never one for subtlety, US President Donald Trump used his first address to the UN General Assembly September 19 to belittle North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and threaten to annihilate his country. “The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” Trump said. “Rocket Man [Trump’s Twitter-born nickname for the dictator] is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime.” Trump also indirectly took aim at China, which the president clearly viewed as not doing enough to isolate Pyongyang. “It is an outrage that some nations would not only trade with such a regime, but would arm, supply and financially support a country that imperils the world with nuclear conflict,” Trump said.
