PV FiT cut 15% for 2012

Germany is to cut subsidies for new solar PV installations by 15% from January 1, 2012, the federal grid agency Bundesnetzagentur said October 27. Solar PV capacity additions in the 12 months to September 2011, the reference period determining the size of the cut, totalled 5,200 MW, down from 7,800 MW for the previous 12 months, the agency said. Some 3,400 MW had been registered year-tc-date, the BNA said. It was not possible to give an estimate for the October-December 2011 period. According to an October 14 estimate by Germany's transmission system operators, total solar PV capacity will reach 23.8 GW by the end of 2011, up 6.5 GW on the 17.3 GW registered at the end of 2010, the year in which PV capacity almost doubled.
