Foreign and domestic investors will have the opportunity later this year to acquire blocking stakes in six of Ukraine's regional distribution companies, or oblenergos, after the government issued a decree September 5 instructing the Ministry of Fuel and Energy to exclude them from the statutory fund of the state power sector holding company, the Energy Company of Ukraine, and to transfer them to the State Property Fund for further privatization. Stakes of 26.98% stake in Lvivoblenergo, a 25.01% stake in Odesaoblenergo, a 25.02% stake in Prykarpattiaoblenergo, 25% + one share in Poltavaoblenergo, Sumyoblenergo and Chernihivoblenergo are expected to be floated on the Kiev stock exchange, before the end of the year.
