Turkey plans to privatize 620-MW lignite coal plant

Turkey plans to privatize the 620-MW lignite-fired Cayirhan power plantoperated by state generator EUAS.The plant, located 120 km northwest of Ankara, is to be soldtogether with the lignite mine that supplies it, according to apresidential decree published in Turkey’s official gazette. The sale is tobe concluded by end-2025, it added.The plant consists of two units of 150 MW and two of 160 MWcommissioned between 1987 and 1999 with an annual generatingcapacity of 4 TWh, burning locally sourced lignite with a calorific valueof 2000-2400 kcal/kg.
