Spain’s government has approved the closure of Spain’s secondlargestremaining coal plant at Litoral de Almeria, with the condition itcontinues to provide grid support services for up to three years, itannounced in the State gazette Oct. 6.While the company has been granted permission to close one unit ofthe 1.1 GW plant, the second must remain available as a synchronouscompensator until the completion of a nearby 400 kV power line runningfrom Caparacena to La Ribina, the Ecological Transition Ministry said.
