Operation of UK-France ElecLink interconnector delayed to mid-2022: Getlink

The 1 GW ElecLink interconnector through the Channel Tunnel between the UK and France is now due to enter service in mid-2022, tunnel operator Getlink said after market closed on Oct. 15. This is the latest delay in a project that most recently was due to be in operation in January, 2022. The new completion date was "subject to receiving IGC authorization before the end of 2020," Getlink said. The Intergovernmental Commission supervises construction and operation matters relating to the Channel Tunnel on behalf of the French and UK governments.
