German coalition agrees onshore wind, solar reform package

Germany’s coalition parties have agreed on a compromise to onshorewind and solar plans that have held back reform of the renewableenergy law (EEG), energy minister Peter Altmaier and environmentminister Svenja Schulze said May 18.Key to the agreement is scrapping of the 52 GW subsidy ceiling onrooftop solar, which would have been reached this summer, accordingto solar lobby BSW. “We hope that this is indeed the long-expectedrescue as there is no time to lose,” BSW chief Carsten Koenig said.
