Stadtwerke Kiel’s 190 MW gas-fired combined heat and power plant in the northern German city is set to start operation in Q4 2019 after a year’s delay, a spokesman for the utility said March 28. The existing 350 MW coal plant serving the city’s district heating needs is to run a week longer than planned, before final closure on April 7, due to excess coal on site, joint operators Uniper and Stadtwerke Kiel said in a transparency note.
