Toshiba has abandoned plans to build the Moorside nuclear powerplant in Cumbria and will wind up UK development company NuGen inJanuary, the Japanese company said November 8.NuGen planned to build three Westinghouse AP1000 reactors onland to the north and west of the Sellafield site in West Cumbria, with acombined output of 3.4 GW.“Toshiba recognizes that the economically rational decision is towithdraw from the UK nuclear power plant construction projects, andhas resolved to take steps to wind up NuGen,” it said.
