Maine ratepayers will get stuck with the full bill to build transmission - about $1.5 billion - if the state withdraws from ISO New England, Maine's largest utility warned last week. However, if the state remains in the ISO, its ratepayers will likely cover only 8.5% of the bill because of regional cost-sharing provisions, according to Central Maine Power. CMP was joined by the state's other investor-owned utilities in urging that the state stay with the ISO in hearings and briefs, as the Public Utilities Commission moved ahead with the final stage of its multi-year consideration. The commission must issue an order by mid-January.
