San Francisco Bay area cities are taking close look at community choice aggregation

A growing number of cities near Pacific Gas & Electric's San Francisco base are scrutinizing community choice aggregation, saying this approach may allow the cities to aggressively pursue procurement of renewable resources. The Bay Area communities' move comes as a complaint filed in June by the San Joaquin Valley Power Authority alleging that PG&E has been trying to squelch the muni group's CCA program is pending before the California Public Utilities Commission. PG&E has, in written testimony, refuted the muni group's allegations that its ratepayers have funded a marketing campaign questioning SJVPA's aggregation plan, saying shareholders have funded the effort.
