Meter Prover Takes On New Challenges

Eighteen years ago, Edward Francisco, founder and owner of Calibron Systems, Inc., and creator of the Small Volume Prover, realized that his second-generation Meter Prover, the SYNCROTRAK®, was going to be a major success story. He had eliminated all of the drawbacks inherent with the hydraulic and pneumatic components used in earlier generations of meter provers as well as the uncertainties introduced into proving operations by human operator. Occasionally, Calibron's customers, especially those overseas, sought independent verification that their prover's accuracy and repeatability were certifiable by an outside source. As a result, Calibron asked the Arizona Department of Weights & Measures if it would consider witnessing and verifying the calibration process and the results achieved in Calibron's test laboratory. Arizona Weights & Measures agreed to review the process and witness the testing, but offered no guarantees as to what the conclusions might be.
