On the pipeline side, the story appeared more upbeat with the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) reporting that its members were making the virus- and market-related adjustments needed to keep North American energy arteries free-flowing. "I think it is safe to say that U.S. natural gas transmission companies are delivering energy as usual, but they're going to great lengths and taking many precautions to ensure their employees are kept safe," said INGAA spokesperson Amy Brown Conway. "The control centers must all be operated in person, but some companies do have backup or multiple centers that they are using to spread folks around." Brown Conway polled some of the INGAA members to get a sense of what the pipelines' responses to COVID-19 have been like as they continue to take steps to assure essential energy supplies are safely and reliably delivered, particularly to homes, hospitals and essential businesses in this time of a nationally declared crisis. "In the midst of a public health emergency, interstate pipeline operators are taking many actions and precautions nationwide," she said.
