Five-year course for nursing, architecture, engineering, accounting starts in school year '09-'10

Commission on Higher Education (Ched) Chairman Manny Angeles is bent on implementing a five-year college course for engineering, architecture, nursing and accounting, starting 2009-2010.rnIn an interview, Angeles said a review of the recommendations and a consultation with parents will be conducted in February.rnHe added they are hoping to make the formal announcement by end of March.rnAngeles argued the five-year college course, particularly for nursing students, would be cost efficient than the four-year course.rnHe explained that under a four-year course for nursing, a student will be taking up summer classes and spend on a hefty review center. Under the five-year course, the summer classes will be integrated in the first semester and the second semester would contain the review itself.
