Applying Luhmann to translation studies: translation in society

Among all the approaches to translation studies, Niklas Luhmann's social systems theory (SST) has, for a long time, been considered possibly the most obscure, if not the most difficult. That has, to a great extent, accounted for its neglect among translation theorists. Theo Hermans is one of the few remarkable exceptions. Now we have another exception, Sergey Tyulenev, as evidenced by his recent work, Applying Luhmann to Translation Studies: Translation in Society.
