Where is the power? You have to be impressed with the power of today's souped-up machines loaded with a few gigabytes of main memory, a quad-core processor, a terabyte hard disk, and a Gigabit Ethernet connection. Not long ago, we were running 386 machines with under a gigabyte of main memory, a 3GB hard disk, a 10-Mbps network card that barely worked, and a miserable flickering screen.
