By early 2014 it became clear thatrnthe government would not honour itsrnpromise to continue with the rollout ofrnthe NBN where contracts were alreadyrnin place. At the Senate hearing on thisrnissue several state governments andrnlocal councils put forward submissionsrnbut these were speedily rejected byrnthe federal government.
