Alfred North Whitehead said, "We think in generalities, but we live in details." For performance improvement planning, I say "We think in strategy (globally) but we live in tactics (implementation and execution)." Many plans fail because they never address the second half of the sentence―the execution. Too much time is spent thinking at a high level and little attention or dedication is spent on implementation. The intent of this series is to help you focus on creating actual improvement in your company or department. You will systematically identify the issues that concern your company or department, and then set specific goals and the action steps to achieve success.
