According to Michelle Schaffer, Penford Products' marketing director, the project to develop PenStrength is a perfect example of listening to customers and trying to understand the issues they are facing in their manufacturing process. Senior district manager Daryl Holland began brainstorming ideas with principal scientist, Ed Pauley, in trying to figure out a solution to address the customer's needs. There were several rounds of back and forth discussions between the customer, sales and R&D to generate prototypes.
