摘要

The development of complicated optical networking nodes (such as OXC and OADM) and the requirements of flexible configuration as well as protection and restoration functions of the next generation optical networks (e.g., ASON) challenge the current functional architecture model defined in G. 805. Based on the analysis of the current solutions, we propose to open the stiff binding relationships of the transport processing functions and transport entities specified in G. 803. Virtual layer network, virtual CI, virtual adaptation, virtual connection point and virtual link connection are introduced as an extension of the current functional components to model the architecture of optical transport networks (OTN) in order to supply different transparent connections within a layer network. Corresponding managed object classes and the guidelines of using the virtual components to build the management information model of OTN are defined.
