Google and AAP Settle on Ebooks

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) and Google announced that they reached a settlement agreement that will allow access to scanned copies of publishers' in-copyright books and journals digitized by Google as part of the Google Books Library Project. U.S. publishers can choose to make available or remove their books and journals from the Library Project. Those deciding not to remove their works will have the option to receive a digital copy for their use. Google's ongoing litigation with The Authors Guild regarding copyrights is not affected by this settlement.
