As a new decade emerges, oil prices are beginning 2020 much stronger than they did in 2019. The group of OPEC and non-OPEC producers gave the market a bit of a surprise with a slightly bigger production cut in the early December meeting when most industry watchers were anticipating a simple rollover of the current agreement. The group also sought to rein in cheating, but that has been a challenge for OPEC producers for years.
