Ulstein Verft in Norway has delivered the service operation vessel Winded Jules Verne to Bernhard Schulte Offshore. The hybrid propulsion vessel will work at the Merkur offshore windfarm on behalf of GE Renewable Energy. Construction of the vessel was contracted on 31 July 2018. The project was developed in co-operation with Windea Offshore, Bernhard Schulte's affiliate for offshore wind projects. The new unit is Ulstein's third offshore wind vessel for Bernhard Schulte, the two first being Windea La Cour and Windea Leibniz. This latest vessel for Bernhard Schulte Offshore is based on the Ulstein SX195 design from Ulstein Design & Solutions and is 93.4 m in length with an 18.0 m beam. It has accommodation for 120 people. Ulstein says much effort has been placed on comfort for those on board. The vessel has the Ulstein X-BOW and X-STERN, which leads to softer motions in head seas, significantly reducing slamming and vibration. This leads to increased quality of sleep and rest when windfarm technicians and crew are off shift.
