Shipyards pick up vessel and jack-up orders

Shipyards in the United Arab Emirates continue to gain orders for support vessels and drilling rigs to meet increasing demand for more complex offshore services. UAE-based Lamprell, which employs 10,000 people at yards in Hamriyah, Sharjah and Jebel Ali, recently gained a contract from Ensco Intercontinental to construct two LeTourneau-designed, self-elevating jack-up drilling rigs. The first of these, Ensco 140, is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2016 and the second is planned for the quarter after that.
