ABERDEEN FIRM TO PROVIDE PURPOSE-BUILT ERRV

March 2015 saw Aberdeen-based Sentinel Marine awarded a contract for a new emergency vessel for Statoil's Mariner field. The contract, awarded by Statoil (UK) Ltd, will see Sentinel Marine provide a new multirole emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV) to support operations on the Mariner field on the UK Continental Shelf. Sentinel Marine owns and operates a number of vessels that support vessels in the offshore oil and gas industry. The 65m vessel, to be named Mariner Sentinel, will be custom built for Statoil and provide emergency cover, firefighting, oil spill response preparedness and tanker assist capabilities for the Mariner field. "We are very pleased to have been awarded this contract to support the Mariner field," said Rory Deans, founder and CEO Sentinel Marine Group. "We have recently taken delivery of two multirole ERRVs and have a further six similar vessels building." He noted that the award "validates Sentinel Marines belief in building modern, advanced vessels for operation in the UK ERRV market."
