One of the best known suppliers of fast rescue craft (FRCs) and daughter craft for the offshore oil and gas sector, Maritime Partner, says it is less concerned about the steep fall in the oil price and the decline in demand for equipment for offshore vessels than it might be because it is doing so well in other sectors. Although the low oil price could mean fewer assignments for the offshore oil and gas industry, Maritime Partner expects sales to increase this year and increase again in 2016. One of the reasons for the company's optimism is that its sales in the naval/defence market have increased significantly of late. In 2014, the defence market accounted for around 50 per cent of the company's turnover.
