More opportunities for vessels from deepwater projects

West African upstream investment remains robust despite the low oil price environment that the industry is facing. Deepwater projects in the Gulf of Guinea are seen as a growing market for vessel owners as international oil companies are pressing ahead with these long-term projects. Chevron, ExxonMobil and Eni have major deepwater projects in Angola, while Total has a number of floating production system projects in development across West Africa. Although concerns continue to be expressed about the potential effect of lower oil prices, the long-term future looks promising for offshore support vessel owners. This is one of the reasons why vessel operators continue to target the region for future charters.
