More vessels chartered for deepwater oil projects

Exploration work continues offshore Morocco as energy groups search for the next major oil and gas field close to hungry southern European markets. Galp Energia has started its drilling campaign and chartered three vessels to support these operations. Norwegian brokers reported that Galp fixed these vessels from three different owners for a period of 60-100 days, depending on the time it takes to drill two exploration wells. Galp fixed 15,000 bhp anchor handler Sea Bear from Deep Sea Supply and 7,443 bhp anchor handler Bourbon Liberty 224 from Bourbon Offshore. It also hired 4,560 dwt platform supply vessel (PSV) Maersk Fetcher from Maersk Supply Services. The vessel was mobilised from the North Sea spot market in May. All of these vessels were scheduled to commence operations with Galp in June.
