Industry faces crewing - and competence - dilemmas

Speaking at the training and crewing focus forum at the 2015 Annual OSJ Conference, Awards & Exhibition, Ian Perrott, former co-managing director of E.R. Offshore, raised some interesting points about the subject of competence - a topic that is very much in focus in the offshore vessel sector currently. He subtitled his presentation at the focus forum 'How to deal with personnel competence issues' and noted that a lack of competence is "nothing new". In the offshore vessel sector, he said, a lack of competence is simply not an option.
