Vroon newbuilds focused on long-term niche markets

As highlighted recently in the 2014 OSJ Industry Leaders supplement, Vroon Offshore currently has one of the largest newbuilding programmes of any offshore vessel owner. Led by Jan-Piet Baars, who has been director, offshore, at Vroon BV since July 2014, the company has an extensive newbuilding programme underway at a number of yards in China. Speaking to OSJ in late December, Mr Baars described the rationale behind the newbuilding programme and provided an insight into how he sees the market for offshore support vessels developing in 2015, following sharp falls in the oil price in late 2014 and early 2015.
